Philip A. Roenne, age 80 of Sanford, died Saturday morning May 19, 2012 at MidMichigan Medical Center. The son of the late Emmett W. and Adelaide I (Osborn) Roenne was born in Monrovia, California on July 1, 1931 where he was raised and educated. Philip joined the United States Navy in October of 1948, and served during the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War. He had a long career with the Navy which enabled him to travel all over the world. Philip received many medals and service ribbons. He retired from the Navy in 1974 and went to work for a period of time as an A&P mechanic. Philip enjoyed being on his computer, collecting cameras and doing photography. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association. On April 19, 1952 in Washington DC, Philip married the former Mary E. Bott. She died on March 14, 2010.
Surviving are his sons, Philip A. (Brenda) Roenne II of Sanford, Michael (Sook) Roenne of Leedstown, Virginia; daughter, Kathleen (Wayne) Cuyler of Sanford; five grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Philip was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn G. Roenne.
Per the wish's of Philip cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 2, 2012 from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Funeral Military Honors will be provided by the U. S. Navy and the Midland Area Veterans. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
