Ora Ellis King

Ora Ellis King, age 80 of Midland, died Monday, November 28, 2011 at his home which he built and lived in all of his adult years.

The son of the late Ora C. and Rachael B. (Kerns) King was born November 9, 1931 in Lee Township where he was raised and educated. Ora Ellis served with the U. S. Navy during Korean. On August 10, 1951 he married the former Betty J. Apollo in Midland. After 52 years of marriage, Betty predeceased her husband November 21, 2003. Ora Ellis was a tree trimmer for Consumers Power Co. retiring in 1988 after 35 years of service. He was a member of Midland Missionary Church, Centre Lodge #273, F. & A.M. for over 46 years and the Sanford American Legion. He enjoyed dancing, gardening, golf and traveling.

He was a devoted father and grandfather to his sons, Edward King, Dennis King, Mark (Angela) King; daughters, Debbie King (companion Joe Compton) and Karen (Randy) Hall all of Midland; grandchildren, Abby (Ryan) (Hall) Badour, Bethany (fiancé Paul Yatch) Hall, Ashley (fiancé Aaron Lewis) King, Sarah King, Courtney King, Mark King, Alyssa King, Racheal King, Mandria Moore and Garrett Hall; great grandchildren, Adin Lewis, Kali, Maddison and Cole Hall. Also surviving are his sisters, Helen Davis, Nila Whipple, Onilee (Durwood) Toner; sisters-in-law Frieda King, Ellen King and Ann King and his special companion, Marion Williams. He was predeceased by brothers Vernell, Douglas Sr. Richard and Thomas King.

Funeral services for Mr. King will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday, December 2, 2011 from Midland Missionary Church with Pastor Mark Beers and Chaplain Wayne Shidler of Heartland Hospice co-officiating. Interment will follow in Midland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm where a Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 pm. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Memorials may be offered to Midland Missionary Church or Heartland Hospice.
