Oliver B. "Ollie" Amley, age 89 of Sanford, died Monday, November 1, 2010 at MidMichigan Medical Center.
The son of the late John E. and Edna (Stewart) Amley was born January 1, 1921 in Linwood. Ollie served with the U.S. Merchant Marines during WWII. On March 27, 1944 he married the former Dorothy Friday in Bay City. Ollie had worked for the Dow Chemical Co. as a Senior Lab Technician, retiring January 31, 1982 after 40 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, photography and his computer.
Mr. Amley is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Amley; daughters, Nancy (Ralph) Clark, Jr. of Midland, Pamela (Kevin) Westendorf of Midland; son, Bruce (Diana) Amley of Scottsdale, Arizona; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; brother, Eugene (Debra) Amley of Clio; sisters, Floris (Tom) Voisine of Bay City, June Jankowski of Tucson, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Doris O'Laughlin and Maxine Bellor.
Funeral services for Mr. Amley will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, November 5, 2010 from Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sanford with Elder Robert VanNorwick officiating. Interment will follow in the Sanford Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from noon until the time of service. Memorials may be offered to one's favorite charity.
