Norman Lee Knapp age 82 of Midland peacefully passed away Tuesday, November 19. The son of the late Arthur and Marian (Lewis) Knapp, Norman was born in Alma, Michigan on August 19, 1942.
After graduating from Midland High School, he worked for North Central Airlines, served in the US Army, and later worked at Dow Corning.
Moving to California, Norman converted to a Sabbath-keeping church, Worldwide Church of God, and was employed there while raising his family. He later retired from the City of Glendora, California. He remained a faithful member of the same church, now called United Church of God (Freeland) until his death.
Norman's interests included airplanes, travel, and the outdoors. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, gardening, and spending time with loved ones. He will be greatly missed.
He lived simply and always saved for a rainy day, but enjoyed the little things in life. He often joked, "We ought to have dessert first, so we don't run out of room."
Norman was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Robert and Michael Knapp. He is survived by former wife, Carol Knapp of California, their son, Jerod Smith of Arizona, Jeffrey Knapp of North Dakota, and daughter, Lonna (Knapp) Rojas of California, grandchildren, Marisa and Ethan Rojas of California, his brother and sister-in-law Charles and Onalee Knapp or Midland, and many nieces and nephews.
He is laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery, Alma. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at United Church of God 4606 Bailey Bridge Rd Freeland, Michigan 48640.
With immense gratitude to the staff at Colonial Villa, brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Onalee Knapp, and their daughter Susan Knapp, for providing consistent care in his final years. Arrangements are under the care of Wilson MILLER Funeral Home.
