Michael R. Nieman

Michael R. Nieman, age 70, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Midland, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at MyMichigan Medical Center. The son of the late Robert and Lillian (Smith) Nieman, he was born in Midland on September 7, 1954.

Mike proudly served in the United States Army, with assignments in both the United States and Central America, where he contributed to his country's mission with dedication and integrity. After his military service, he worked in a variety of roles, including as a truck driver, carpentry and in maintenance, using his hands and skills to serve his community. Mike enjoyed working with his hands and was a skilled woodcrafter. For many years, he worked as a taxi driver, where he took great pride in helping those he encountered, providing reliable transportation and offering kindness to everyone he met.

Mike was a devoted family man who found joy in spending time with his loved ones. His generosity, work ethic, and love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him.

Surviving is his wife, Apolonia Nieman; daughter, Jennifer Nieman and husband, Bradley Lawrence; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Carmelo, Aaliyah, Anna, Elijah; brothers, Curtis (Linda) Nieman, Craig Nieman, Dennis (Kathy) Nieman; sister, Pamela Nieman; many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Mike's life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday December 14, 2024 from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Interment of Mike's ashes will be at a later time in the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m.
