Michael Gould, age 80 of Midland, passed away peacefully at MediLodge of Midland on Monday, February 2, 2026. He was born on March 1, 1945 to the late Sie and Florence “Myrtle” (Good) Gould in Bay City where he was raised and educated.
Michael was most proud of his military service with the United States Air Force, enlisting in 1963 and assigned to the Army Special Forces 101st Airborn Division. Serving during the Vietnam war, Michael earned his National Defense Service Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, and his Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He earned an honorable discharge in 1967 after almost 4 years of service.
After being home a few years, Michael married the love of his life, the former Carolyn Rubritius on April 14, 1979. Michael was an accomplished woodworker and carpenter (building two custom homes for his family to live in, teamed-with countless homes in the Tri-City area), and earned a Blackbelt in the Martial Arts. Most of all, he loved making people laugh.
His memory will be cherished by his wife of 46 years, Carolyn Gould; sons, Eric Gould, Jamison Gould, and Jonathon Gould; 10 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Peggy, Gwen, Janet, and LaJune; and his brother, Mark.
Michael’s celebration of life will be held at 12:00pm on Monday, February 9, 2026 from Christian Celebration Center. Pastors Dean Grabill and Larry Filmore will officiate with military honors presented by the United States Air Force and the Midland Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Monday, February 9, 2026 at the church from 10:30am until the time of service.
In the spring, Michael will be laid to rest with his family and comrades at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be offered to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Arrangements are under the care of Wilson Miller Funeral Home.
