Melvin Lee Bowman lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, August 5, 2012. He was born in Clare on August 24, 1952 to the late Robert and Mabel (Collins DeForest) Bowman. On May 17, 2002 Melvin married the former Janis M. Bashaw in Midland. He loved working outdoors and loved caring for his animals and chickens. He was always busy with special projects around the house and at work. Melvin always put 100%+ into whatever he did. He believed in "pay it forward". Melvin will be missed very much. Life will never be the same.
He is survived by his wife Janis; step sons, Brent, Douglas and Kristopher Gingerich; nine step grandchildren; brothers, Donald (Joann) DeForest, David DeForest, Phillip (Wilma) DeForest; sisters, Patricia Adams, Mary Best, Lila Martin; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews; special nephew/friend, Tony Martin; and special companions, Rebel and Tena. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Virginia Bowman.

Funeral and committal services for Melvin will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Thursday, August 9, 2012 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with Chaplain Darlene Hodgins officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Plains Cemetery-Harrison. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 am until the time of service.
