Mary Carol Rutledge

Mary "Carol" (Beckett) Rutledge, age 81 of Midland, died Saturday evening August 22, 2015 at her residence. The daughter of the late Edward L. and Hazel (Oerkvitz) Beckett, was born on May 1, 1934 in Trenton, New Jersey where she was raised and educated, graduating from East Orange High School in 1952. On June 20, 1959 she married Robert Rutledge and moved to Mesa, Arizona for a short time, later moving to Redondo Beach, California, where she worked as an Office Manager for State Farm Insurance, retiring in 1994 with over twenty five years of service. While in California Carol served as President of the Home Owners Association for the New Horizons of South Bay, California. Carol and her husband moved to Midland in 2006 to be closer to their family.

Carol is survived by her husband Robert Rutledge; sons Charles (Lynne) Rutledge of Midland, James Rutledge of Midland; daughters Jean Rutledge of Memphis, TN and Ann Rutledge of Littleton, CO. She will also be missed by her grandchildren Heather Makar, Kevin Linn, Robert Rutledge, Steven Harter, Jr., Jonathon Rutledge, James Rutledge and great grandchildren Haylee Harter, Maya Harter and Peter Makar VI. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a brother Edward Leonard Beckett and sisters Jean Beckett, Patricia Maguire and Joyce Rademakers.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday August 26, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Church with Fr. Kevin Maksym officiating. The rite of committal will be at a later date in Midland City Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the CHURCH on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be offered to MidMichigan Home Care (Hospice). Arrangements are under the care of Wilson MILLER Funeral Home.
