Mary Pomranky

June 19, 1922 — January 24, 2020

Mary (Pecknyo) Pomranky was born on June 19, 1922 in Flint MI to Charles William Pecknyo and Anna (Gelles) Pecknyo. After graduating high school, she worked at the AC Spark Plug division of General Motors. On May 6, 1950, she married George Junior Pomranky of Midland MI. While raising their children, Mary faithfully and diligently tended the large family farm and ran other home businesses for extra income. In 1986, George and Mary relocated to the Grand Rapids area where they lived the remainder of Mary's life.

Mary loved to cook, garden, entertain, read her Bible and historical fiction books, and spend time with family and friends. She enjoyed music and encouraging others by sending greeting cards to friends and acquaintances for every possible occasion as well as simply to let them know she was thinking of them.

On January 24 at age 97, Mary passed from her final temporal home into her eternal heavenly home where she was welcomed by her Lord and Savior Jesus and by the loved ones who had gone before her: her parents, brother Michael and his wife Virginia, sister Anna, and sister-in-law Elaine.

Mary is survived by her husband George, brothers David and Basil (Margaret), sons Greg (CarolLynn), Vance (Kathy), Kevin, and Kim (Lisa), daughter Michelle (Ray) Snoek, grandchildren Esther Pomranky (Mike) Neibling, Luke (Jane) Pomranky, Bethany (Aaron) Keuter, Sharon (Clark) Bakewell, Doren (Amber) Snoek, Heidelise Snoek, and Collin Snoek, as well as four great-grandsons.

A memorial service will be held at Rest Haven Homes, 1424 Union Avenue NE, Grand Rapids on Saturday, February 8 at 2 pm.
