Mary M. "Margy" Vandenberg

Mary Margaret "Margy" VandenBerg, age 73 of Midland, passed from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Sunday October 17th, 2021 at Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant. The daughter of the late Lester and Winifred (Breckenridge) VandenBerg was born February 10, 1948 in Alma, Michigan. Margy graduated from Midland High School in 1966. She went on to CMU where she graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Margy worked for Dow Chemical, retiring in 2013. She was a Christian, an only daughter, a sister, a mother, a grandmother, and a friend to many. She was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church for most of her life. Margy was a devoted volunteer there for several years after retirement. She was also a member of the PEO.

Margy was best known for her artistic eye and her chic fashion sense. She had perfected the quest for "fantastic finds", when it came to retail therapy, she made friends wherever she shopped, she loved to shop.

Surviving is her children, Matthew (Stacy) Riley, Emily Riley, and Joseph Selby; 7 grandchildren; 2 great granddaughters; brothers, Greg (Ann) VandenBerg, Craig (Fay) VandenBerg; sister in law, Carolyn VandenBerg; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Lou Garl.& In addition to her parents, Margy was preceded in death by her brother, Jim VandenBerg of Texas.

A celebration of Life service for Margy will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday November 13, 2021 at Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Wallace H. Mayton III officiating. Family will receive guests at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. A private committal of her ashes will be in the columbarium at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial are recommended to Woodland Hospice House or the organization of one's choice.

Family would like to thank the physicians, nurses and staff at MidMichigan Medical Center for their kindness and compassion shown to Margy and the family.
