Mary Elizabeth Lewis

Mary Elizabeth Lewis, age 85 of Saginaw, passed away Monday October 23, 2017 at her sisters residence. The daughter of the late James A. and Mary A. (Foster) Lewis was born in North Bradley, Midland County on December 24, 1931. Mary graduated from Midland High School in 1953 went on to get her degree in teaching from Central Michigan University and her Master's Degree from Saginaw Valley State University. She was an Elementary Teacher in the Saginaw Public Schools until her retirement in 1993. Mary was involved with the United States Air Force Teachers where she taught throughout Europe, Middle East and in Casper, Wyoming. She enjoyed gardening, reading and collecting books, going to her cottage on Whiskey Lake and her faithful companion and dog Kara. Mary was a member of the former Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her siblings, George A. (Dawn) Lewis, Walter C. (Karen) Lewis, Debra A. (David) Ullrich; sister in law, Dorothy Lewis; many nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by brother, James E. Lewis; sisters, Loretta Phelan, Dorothy M. Throop, Betty Jean Lewis-Flock.

Funeral services for Mary will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday October 27, 2017 from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Midland City Cemetery. Family will receive guests at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be offered to Alzheimer's Association of Michigan.
