Mark Burkett

Carlton "Mark" Burkett, age 59 of Midland, died Thursday morning October 8, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. The son of Beverley J (Harper) and the late George H. Burkett was born in Midland on June 19, 1956 where he was raised and educated. Mark was a proud member of UA Local 85 where he was employed as a welder and welding instructor. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, collecting motorcycle memorabilia, watching western movies and making wine. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and two dogs, Jasper & Blue.

Surviving is his wife, the former Kim Douglas of whom he married on May 24, 1980 in Midland. They re-exchanged vows on September 23, 2014. He leaves behind his sons, Jacob Burkett, Justin (Alexis) Burkett all of Midland; grandsons, Liam & Kenji; his mother, Beverley (Loren) Pierce of Westminster, Colorado; siblings, Linda Gifford of Midland, Carol (John) Denniston of Ashley, Michigan, Larry (Judy) Burkett of Wayne, Michigan, Paul (Lynda) Burkett of Roselle, Illinois; father and mother in law, Lee & Kimiko Douglas of Midland; Aunt Dorothy Heimark of Wind Lake, Wisconsin; very dear and special friend, David (Lou Ann) Berlin of Aurora, Colorado; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was blessed with many special friendships that he had formed throughout the years and a great bond with his brothers and sisters at Local 85.

A celebration of Mark's life will take place 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2015 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home, 4210 N. Saginaw Rd Midland with Pastor Eric Smith of Midland Missionary Church officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00.
