Marjorie E. Englund

Marjorie Ellen Englund passed away in Midland, Michigan after a brief illness on Nov. 1, 2019. Marge was a beloved mother, teacher, and wife. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Midland for nearly 70 years.


Marge was born on June 6, 1929, in Saginaw, Michigan, the beloved daughter of Edna (McKeage) and Reinhold Hasse. She attended Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw and Central Michigan University, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She taught in the Midland Public Schools, and enjoyed recalling her 20 years at Mills Elementary School, teaching early elementary school students. She met Stanley Englund in Midland and they were married on June 27, 1953. She had four children and remembered fondly her time spent with her good neighborhood friends on Hampshire Street while her children were young.


Stan and Marge celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2003. They moved to Independence Village in 2010. Stan died in June, 2011. Marge missed her partner and best friend greatly the rest of her life.


She is survived by her four children and their children and grandchildren: daughter Dr. Janet Englund (Dr. Ridgway Scott), and their children Dr. Anna (Yan Azdoud) Scott, Dr. Sara (Jordan O'Neill) Scott and Peter Scott; son Robert Englund and his daughter Beauty (Dennis) Campbell; daughter Annette (Clifford) Flood and their children Dr. David (Dr. Nora) Flood, Marguerite (Samuel) Roddy and Jacob Flood; and son Dr. Ronald (Leiponi) Englund and their children Kalei and Kekai Englund. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Caleb Roddy and Marie Flood. She was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her love, faith, and service to her family and friends. She will also be remembered for her creativity and artistic efforts including many school projects as a teacher, as well as sewing and painting. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be sorely missed.


Funeral services for Mrs. Englund will be conducted at 11 am on Saturday, November 30, 2019 from the First United Methodist Church, 315 W. Larkin St. Midland. Family will receive friends at the church only on Saturday from 10 am until the time of service. Private burial will be in Midland City Cemetery. Memorials in Marjorie's name may be offered to First United Methodist Church 315 Larkin St Midland, Michigan 48640.
