Born on November 20, 1935, in Flint, Michigan, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Harold and Marion (Hough) Drew. On August 13, 1988, she married Arnold Burwick, and together they shared 30 wonderful years until his passing in 2018.
Marilyn was a cherished member of the Sanford community. She found joy in playing Nickel Bingo at the Sanford Senior Center, riding horses, and spending time with her family and friends. A woman of faith, she was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sanford and an active participant at the Sanford Senior Center.
She is survived by her children, Louis (Sandy) Hand of San Antonio, TX, Shannon (Mickey) Bible of Mooresburg, TN, and Wayne Hand of Iserlohn, Germany; her grandchildren, Tobias V. Bible, Brandon L. Bible, and LeeAnn (Corey) Cottles; and her great-grandchild, Brian J. Cottles. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Arnold; her son, Brian Hand; her stepson Ben Burwick; her siblings Richard Drew, David Drew, Dorothy (Hiram) Thornton, Kathryn Larsen, James Drew, Jack Drew, and Barb Crow; as well as her parents.
The family would like to give special thanks to Olson Manor, and the hospice nurses, Chris and Kelly, for their exceptional compassion and care.
A memorial service to honor Marilyn's life will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sanford with Pastor Christopher Vossler officiating.
