Madeline Grace Howe

Madeline Grace (McMillan) Howe, age 89 of Sanford, died Friday March 4, 2011 at Tendercare of Midland surrounded by her family. Madeline was born November 8, 1921 in Midland, the youngest of six children of the late Allan and Ruth (Greig) McMillan. As documented by Midland Genealogical Society First Families of Midland County, her paternal grandparents were pioneer residents of Ingersoll Twp. & her maternal grandparents were early settlers of Jerome Twp. She attended St. Brigid Catholic School thru 8th grade & graduated from Midland High School class of 1940. On July 4, 1942 in St. Brigid Catholic Church Madeline married Victor Howe. He died on April 15, 1992. She had been employed with Jackson Insurance Agency for over 19 years. Madeline was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Sanford, a former member of different church organizations, and a member of Women's A bowling league. Her greatest joy was attending family functions with her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren.

Surviving are her sons, Victor D. (Wanda) Howe of Hartland, Michigan, Dennis Howe of Sanford; daughter, Ann Marie Pomranky of Midland; grandchildren, Sheila (Tony) Ercolani, Scott (Heidi) Howe, Kara (Keith) Malkowski, Steven (Heather) Pomranky; great grandchildren, Andrea & Anthony Ercolani, Brendon & Natalie Howe, Alina, Elise, Nadia & Camille Malkowski, Ryan & Tucker Pomranky; sister in law, Helen McMillan and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Madeline was preceded in death by brothers, P. Leland, Robert, J. Arthur and Cyril McMillan; sister, C. Leonore Schultz; son in law, John Pomranky.

Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Tuesday March 8, 2011 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sanford. Fr. Dan Fox OFM, Cap. will officiate. Interment will be 1:30 p.m. at Old Calvary Cemetery Midland. Family will receive friends at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Monday from 3 to 7:00 p.m. with The Christian Vigil Service to be held at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be offered to St. Agnes Catholic Church. Personal messages of support may be left for the family at www.wilson-miller.com.
