Lucille Kathryn Hintz

Lucille Kathryn Hintz, age 96, of Midland, died Wednesday afternoon, January 1, 2014 at her home amongst family. The former Lucille Ostahowski was born in Larkin Township on February 17, 1917, to the late Joseph and Mary (Commora) Ostahowski. Lucille attended schools in Midland and graduated from Midland High School in 1935. She was married to Laurence A. Hintz on July 19, 1937, and was married nearly 65 years. Laurence died in 2002. Lucille was a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament Church. She also was a member of the Daughters of Isabella for over 60 years. In recent years, she was a member of Legion of Mary. Prayer was the center of her life.

Before she was married, Lucille worked at Lapelles Flower Shop and Newberry store on Main Street. After she was married she was busy with children and was a homemaker. Her life was blessed with a large family and she was always surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lucille loved to travel and went to Poland, Italy and the Holy Land. She also traveled throughout the United States and Canada. Lucille was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking. She enjoyed summers camping and fishing with her family at Missaukee Lake and Lake Cadillac. Lucille worked elections at the voting booth for 30 years and truly believed what a privilege our right to vote was.

Lucille is survived by her seven children and their spouses; Norman and Mary Hintz, Laurence L. Hintz, Richard and Pam Hintz, Judy and Michael Moffatt, and Janet Goold all of Midland, and Gregory and Judy Hintz of Benzonia, MI and Joan and Hector Rios of Cincinnati, OH; 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen White; brothers Anthony (Ruth) Ostahowski, Leonard (Dorothy) Ostahowski, & sister-in-law-Phyllis Ostahowski. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her grandson, Steven Hintz, great grandson, Noah Haycock; sister, Ann Seruga; brothers John Ostahowski, Walter Ostahowski, Stanley Ostahowski, Edward Ostahowski and Joseph Ostahowski.

Our family has been blessed with a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday January 6, 2014 from Blessed Sacrament Church with Father Kevin Maksym as celebrant. The rite of Christian Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery. Lucille's family will receive friends at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home, 4210 N. Saginaw Rd., on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. A Christian Vigil Service will be conducted 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
