Lucille J. Hammond Phelps

Lucille J. Hammond Phelps, age 92 of Midland, died Saturday evening January 1, 2011 at Brittany Manor. The daughter of the late James and Stella (Crawford) Randall was born in Midland on December 16, 1918 where she was raised and educated. Lucille was a member of the Abundant Life Apostolic Church in Sanford where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School. Lucille also enjoyed traveling. On April 10, 1935 Lucille married Frederick Hammond. He died on May 12, 1973. She then married Harold Phelps on September 25, 1975. He died on November 23, 1989.

Surviving are her children, Ruth (Donald) Decker of Sanford, Frederick Hammond of Midland, Evelyn (Edward) Comstock of Shepherd, Gladys Prieto of California, Robert (Barb) Hammond, Dennis (Barb) Hammond, Ronald (Debra) Hammond all of Midland; step children, Ron Phelps of Colorado and Donna Wilkinson of Midland; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents Lucille was preceded in death by children, George, Wilma, Anthony, Arthur and Raymond Hammond, Lucille Zink; step children, Haskell and Dick Phelps, Betty Bell and many brothers and sisters.

Funeral and committal services will take place 10:00 a.m. Wednesday January 5, 2011 from Abundant Life Apostolic Church in Sanford. Rev. Richard Fairfield will officiate. Interment will be in Romulus Michigan. Family will receive friends at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
