Lois I. Young, 86 of Midland, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Close to Home Assisted Living in Bay City. The daughter of the late Jonas and Ellen (Leif) Backlund was born January 28, 1930 in Duluth, MN. On March 28, 1953, Lois married Robert J. Young in Grand Marais, Minnesota. After 58 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on April 4, 2011.
Lois is survived by her daughters, Sue (Dave) Ives of Midland, and Lynn Tulachka of Suamico, WI; 7 grandchildren and 5 great - grandchildren and 1 great - grandchild on the way. In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Jane Blackwell, and Arlene Jurek.
A celebration of Lois's life will take place at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 22, 2016 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Murphrey of Calvary Baptist Church of Midland officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 am until the time of service. Memorials in Lois's name may offered to Washington Woods Senior Living of Midland.
