A loving wife and mother, Linda Mae Kern Nussbaum, 78, of Midland, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025.
Born on October 30, 1946, in New Philadelphia, Ohio, Linda was the daughter of Melvin S. and Betty J. (Thomas) Kern. She graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1965 and worked at Reeves Bank and Trust in her hometown. On June 22, 1968, Linda married her high school sweetheart, Lael E. Nussbaum, and moved to Midland, Michigan. Together, they built a life rooted in love and family and made Midland their home.
Throughout her life, Linda had many talents and interests. She was an avid bowler, a passion she shared with Lael, competing in numerous leagues at Valley Lanes, Circle and Midland Bowl. She found joy in crafting—through macramé, crocheting, sewing and counted cross stitch to name a few. Her creativity extended to the kitchen as well with her love of baking. Linda enjoyed tending to plants and flowers, both inside and outdoors. She had a love for her grand and great grand dogs, who always greeted her with wiggles. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Linda was actively involved in her children's school and extracurricular activities. The roles of wife, mom, nanny or nana, were ones she held proudly.
Linda is lovingly remembered by her children Jennifer Summers and Scott (Elizabeth) Nussbaum; grandchildren Emily Summers (Jeremy Tomcho), Olivia (Daniel) Stahl, Abigail Summers, Brendan, Kyle, and Katelyn Nussbaum, Hannah and Rachel Hunter; sister Nancy (G. Randall) Gibbs; sisters-in-law Nannette Wilson and Margaret Nussbaum; brother-in-law Francis "Frank" (Gloria) Nussbaum Jr.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Lael E. Nussbaum; her parents Melvin S. and Betty J. Kern; her in-laws Francis E. and Ellen A. (Lirgg) Nussbaum Sr.; and brother-in-law John Wilson.
Linda's family is incredibly grateful for the love and care she received from the StoryPoint caregivers and staff, as well as her CorsoCare hospice team.
May Linda's memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
The family is planning a private ceremony at a later date. Memorial contributions in Linda's name may be directed to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the care of Wilson MILLER Funeral Home.
