Lida M. (Woodcock) Peasley, age 80 of Midland died suddenly, Friday, March 26, 2010 at MidMichigan Medical Center. The daughter of the late Herbert Edward and Lida Mae (Grasley) Woodcock was born January 6, 1930 in Midland where she was raised and educated. Lida Marie married Duane G. Peasley on February 18, 1950 in Midland.
Lida's life revolved around her family. She had been a devoted daughter and showered her own children and grandchildren with continued devotion. She had been a Brownie Scout Leader, 4-H instructor and a room mother for not only her children but her grandchildren, and had volunteered for the Lunch Box Learners program. Lida's home was always open to children and teens, who lovingly called her mom. She was an avid seamstress, loved gardening and the great outdoors.
Mrs. Peasley is survived by her husband, Duane; daughters, Susan Gunter of Sylva, NC, Sandy (Mike) Brommer of Midland, Julie Peasley of Midland and Kimberly (Ray) Parker of Sumter, SC; 6 grandchildren, Michael (Celeste) Robinson, Kristina (Chris) Baker, Jessica (Charles) Wilder, Blake (Brandi) Moore, Sean B. Gunter, Maddelyn M. Parker;
5 great grandchildren; and brother, Herbert Duane (Barb) Woodcock of Midland. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother and his wife, Warren "Red" and Jean Woodcock; and her grandson, Harlee Ray Parker.
A memorial service for Mrs. Peasley will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Messiah Lutheran Church with Pastor Kurt Webber officiating. Family will meet with friends at the church on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Lida's favorite charities, the March of Dimes or Shriner's Hospitals for Crippled Children.
