Leonard L. Iott

Leonard L. Iott, age 78 of Midland died Tuesday evening November 23, 2010 at Tendercare of Midland. The son of the late Alvin and Clara (Nusbaum) Iott was born January 29, 1932 in Petersburg, Michigan where he was raised and educated. Leonard graduated from Sacred Heart High School and then served with the U.S. Army. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Detroit and his Masters Degree in business from Central Michigan University. On June 6, 1959 Leonard married Joanne Eby in Dearborn and they moved to Midland in 1963 where he began his career with Dow Corning Corp. From 1968 through 1972 he worked for Dow Corning International in Brussels, Belgium and after 30 years of service, Leonard retired in 1993. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, a Junior Achievement Counselor, Friend of the Library, and enjoyed photography and gardening.

Mr. Iott is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joanne; sons, Joel Iott of Chicago, IL, Thomas (Penny) Iott of Bloomington, IL; grandchildren, Justin Sczechowski, Nicole Sczechowski, Claire Iott, Paige Iott; brother, Hubert (Bernadine) Iott of Monroe; sisters, Audrey Gerhardt of Monroe, Rita Iott of Clinton Township; and son-in-law, Dennis (Cathi) Sczechowski of Royal Oak. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Suzanne Iott-Sczechowski; brothers, Lawrence, Ralph, Cletus; and sisters, Marilyn, Mary, Barbara, and Angela.

Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 am Friday, November 26, 2010 from Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate. The Rite of Committal will be 1:30 p.m. at New Calvary Cemetery. Family will received friends at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be offered to the Alzheimer's Association (Mid-Michigan Region) and Midland Community Cancer Services.
