Lee James Elmore

April 20, 1941 — April 19, 2023

Lee James Elmore, 81, of Midland, passed away Wednesday, April 19 at MyMichigan Medical Center in Midland.& He was born in Edenville, Michigan on April 20, 1941 to the late Stanley and Donna (Shepherd) Elmore. He worked at Robinsons Industries and then completed his duties in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne. After returning, he landed a job with Dow Chemical as a Pipefitter and was later promoted to a Planner. He retired after 35 years of work. He was a member of the American Legion Berryhill Post 165. In his younger years, he enjoyed motorcycle riding with his friends, brother Ned, and brother-in-law Dale. His happiest times were spending Sundays watching NASCAR. He was a huge fan of racing and for years was the owner of the Terrill Racing Team, spending many nights and weekends in shops and at racetracks. Lee took pride in everything he pursued, loved boating, fishing, and water-skiing at the family home on Wixom Lake. One of his greatest accomplishments was building a home from the ground up. Lee remodeled homes for his growing family and as a pastime restored many cars.


Surviving is his wife, the former Brenda Senkbeil, who he married on March 26, 1976 in Midland. They shared 47 years of marriage together before his death. Also surviving is his son Ryan (Stacey) Elmore (Midland), daughters April (Arizona) and Amber Elmore (Midland) and two grandchildren, Tyler and Emma Elmore; sisters, Sue Erway and Jan Elmore. In addition to his parents, Lee was predeceased by his brother, Ned Elmore and brother-in-law, Dale Erway. Lee loved his family and will be greatly missed by all.


A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday April 29, 2023 at 2:00 pm from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with Rev. Michael T. Sawicki officiating. Family will receive guests at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 pm until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family. A very special thanks to the doctors and nurses in the ICU of MyMichigan Hospital who went above and beyond for Lee and the family.
