Laurel Lynn Firmingham

Laurel Lynn Firmingham of Newton, North Carolina, passed into the arms of Jesus on June 14, 2026 in St. Cloud, Minnesota at the age of 78. She was born to the late William and Ella (McMillen) Leppien on November 13, 1947 in Midland, Michigan where she was raised and educated. Laurel retired from the Midland Public School System where she worked as a Para Educator. After retirement, she focused on gardening and taking care of her granddaughter, Brianna. The last few years, she spent her time traveling the country with her daughter, Jessica.

Laurel’s memory will be cherished by her daughter, Jennifer Firmingham (Lukas), Jeremy Firmingham, and Jessica Firmingham; granddaughter, Brianna Firmingham; and brother, Robert Leppien. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ella Leppien; grandson, Tyler Grappin; and siblings, Rande, Rick and Livia Leppien.

A service to honor Laurel’s life will be held at Wilson Miller Funeral Home on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 1:00 pm. Pastor Don Duford will officiate with visitation from 12:00 pm until the time of service. Memorial contributions in Laurel’s name may be offered to the benevolence fund at FAM Church in Morganton, NC.
