Laura R. Novak

Laura R. Novak, age 83 of Midland died Friday October 3, 2014 at the Mid-Michigan Medical Center - Midland. The daughter of the late David and Blanche (Eddy) Grappin, Sr. was born on April 21, 1931 in Midland where she was raised and educated. She married Alton L. Pelton and he pre-deceased her in 1983. She later married Floyd '˜Al' Novak on June 12, 1979 and he predeceased her on January 14, 2000. Laura had worked at Northwood University as a cook for ten years, retiring in 1981. She enjoyed playing bingo, bowling and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan.

Laura is survived by her children Richard Pelton of Grand Rapids, Nancy (Scott) Robinson of Sanford, Janice Younker of Edenville, Judy Pelton of Midland, Connie (Ben) Randall of Coleman, Rosemary Haney of Sanford; five stepsons; one step daughter; nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother David (Joann) Grappin; brother-in-law Jack Metevia; sisters Mary Jane (Ken) Scott, Kathleen (Ron) Johnson and Josephine Grappin all of Bay City.
Laura was pre-deceased by her daughter Bonnie Pelton; brothers Henry and Benjamin; sisters Lucy Metevia, Frances Grappin and Elnora Grappin.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday, October 6, 2014 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with Pastoral Officiate Christopher N. Lauckner presiding. Interment will follow in Old Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. Memorials may be offered to the Toni & Trish House.
