Laura "Jean" Cohoon

Laura "Jean" (Wilson) Cohoon, age 87 of Midland passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at MidMichigan Medical Center.

The daughter of the late George and Florence (Mull) Wilson was born January 13, 1923 in Shepherd. Jean resided in Midland her entire life after graduating from Mt. Pleasant High School. On May 3, 1946 she married Dean Cohoon. After nearly 56 years of marriage, Dean died on April 19, 2002. Jean had worked in the Engineering Department as a secretary for the Dow Chemical Company before and during the early years of her marriage. After raising her five children, she enjoyed working at the family business, Cohoon's Elevator, family get togethers, gardening, playing bridge, reading, meeting new people and traveling; especially to the Cayman Islands where she and Dean spent many winters.

Mrs. Cohoon is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Cohoon of Midland; Steve (Pam) Cohoon of Farwell, Bruce (Judy) Cohoon, Tim Cohoon, and Tom (Sheryl) Cohoon all of Midland; -12- grandchildren, Jennifer (Dave) Patteen, Chris Cohoon, Katie Cohoon, Laura (Mike) Allis, Kelly Cohoon, Luke Cohoon, Brent Cohoon, Michael Cohoon, Christine (Roque) Varela, Jody Gerfen, Dan (Kara) Hagen, Shannon Hagen; -5- great grandchildren, Chandler Patteen, Caden Patteen, Chelsea Bowen, Kiley Roehrs, Lola Varela; and sisters, June (Bill) Zingery of Shepherd and Joanne Wilson of Mecosta.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Stanley Wilson.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has been arranged through the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home where there will be no visitation. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be offered to the Salvation Army or Memorial Presbyterian Church.
