Larry Delos Newman

Larry Delos Newman, age 89, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, at Medilodge in Clare, Michigan. Larry was born on September 14, 1935, in Midland, Michigan, to the late Archie Newman and Belva (Beach) Newman-Steinwand. Larry married Florence (Mill) Zilska on July 31, 1955. He is survived by his daughter Kathy (Jeff) Wilkins: Grandchildren Brian (Heather) Bowers and Marcie Newman (Ryan Cay); and great-grandchildren Rylee Jo and Brady Cay, Brook and Logan Bowers. Larry was predeceased by his wife, son Larry R. Newman; great-granddaughter Maddie Jo; brother Eldon (Lill) Newman; and sisters Jane Iverson, Jewel Diaz, and Bonnie Johnson.

Larry was a hardworking and dedicated man. He worked at Dunham's Service Station for 14 years before owning and operating Newman's Gulf and Marathon for 11 years. Later, he worked at LaLonde's Service Station then Faulkner Construction for 19 years as a mechanic.

He had a zest for life and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Larry found joy in hunting, ice fishing, Agate hunting and watching lawnmower races with friends David Duford, Hop and Ronnie Burton, along with many other escapades in Brimley.  Larry also loved spending time fishing at the Two Hearted River.  Many cherished memories were made a Michigan's Upper Peninsula at Rainbow Lodge, and at Two Hearted River Campground. Larry also loved building birdhouses and feeders along with sharing stories of his younger days with those around him.

Larry's funeral service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Wilson MILLER Funeral Home, 4210 N. Saginaw Road, Midland, Michigan, with Pastor Don Duford officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Private burial will be at Jerome Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to an organization of one's choice.
