Lanny Duane Tohm

Lanny Duane Tohm, age 82 of Shepherd, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Woodland Hospice in Mt. Pleasant. He was born on August 27, 1944, in Midland to Carl and Alice (Pozehl) Tohm.

On June 4, 1966, Lanny married the former Emma Mae Russell in Midland. They shared 54 years together and raised their children with love and devotion. Surviving is his children, Daren (Stephanie) Tohm, Denise (Chuck) Chaffee, and Donald (Penelope) Tohm; grandchildren, Cody, Molly, Kassidy, Aaron (Justine), Adam, Eric, Gabrielle; great granddaughter, Reagan; sister-in-law, Carol Tohm; along with many nieces and nephews.

Lanny was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Emma; parents, Carl and Alice Tohm; and his brother, Larry Tohm.

Lanny spent 34 years with Alma Refinery as an Accountant. After trying retirement, he then went on to work for McBride Homes for 7 years. Being outdoors brought peace to Lanny, his favorite activities included hunting and fishing.

A service to honor Lanny’s life will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from Zion Lutheran Church, 3401 E. River Rd. Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858. Pastor Noah Dunsmore will officiate with burial to follow in Midland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday, October 15, 2026 from 11:00 am until the time of service. Those wishing to donate in Lanny’s name are asked to consider the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Zion Lutheran Church in Mt. Pleasant.
