Kenneth Duane Smith, age 77 of Midland, passed away Friday March 24, 2017 at his residence. The son of the late Roseberry and Dorothy (McIntyre) Smith was born in Mt. Pleasant on March 12, 1940. Ken graduated from Midland High School in 1958 and then attended Flint Junior College. He served in the National Guard and experienced the Detroit Riot in 1967. Ken enjoyed playing golf, sailing, watching The Godfather movies, collecting hot sauce and being with his family.
Surviving is his wife of 51 years the former Judith A. Kenel whom he married in Saginaw on September 11, 1965; daughter, Jana (Mark) Seals; grandchildren, Ronin Bryce and Zoe Kate Seals; brother in law, Bill Dietrich of Naples, Florida; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Ken was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Ann Teichthesen Dietrich; step father, William C. Whaley and three step siblings.
