Kenneth L. Maloney passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025 after a long run with Parkinson's Disease. He adamantly refused to give in to the changes that inevitably made his active lifestyle ever more difficult and remained as mobile as he could possibly be through it all.
Ken was born on January 22, 1938 in Hudson, Michigan to William and Sofia Maloney who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Hollingshead) Maloney, daughter Jennifer (Kurt) Broers, son Gregory Maloney, step daughter Kari Babcock, step sons Brett (Katrina) Moe and Bart (Dawn) Moe, grandchildren Keileigh Maloney, Ashleigh (David) Johnson, Brendan Moe, Katherine Moe, Tyler Moe, Kaitlyn (Houghton) Robinson, Dustin Chambers, Barry (Jenny) Yuncker, Whitney Broers and Matthew Broers, great grandsons Owen, Blaine, Blake, Connor and Myles and great granddaughter Ella. A new great grandson is expected soon.
Ken was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Idalski, son in law, Daniel Babcock, daughter in law Jami Maloney, and great grandson Logan Daniel.
Ken retired from the Dow Corning Corporation in 1997 after a long career, holding a number of positions. Ken was an avid runner and participated in marathons and memorial runs in those years. While his daughters were in school, he volunteered as assistant coach for their soccer and cross-country teams.
After retirement, he had many enjoyable years on his Harley Davidson motorcycle and in his Corvette, traveling coast to coast and north to south, clocking memorable miles on numerous trips.
Ken loved children and would joke around with them whenever an opportunity presented. He would read “Little Red Riding Hood” as “Little Red Rotten Hood”. He would “mispronounce” words to see if he could get a reaction. He had nicknames for all of his grandchildren. The nicknames were always older names and the wrong sex for the grandchild. Again, joking around to get a reaction. He has worn a beard and mustache since 1974. When it turned white, or “platinum blonde” as he called it, many children were convinced he was Santa.
Ken loved to cook on his charcoal grill and was incredibly skilled in sharpening knives. Ken was a passionate NASCAR fan and loved football. He would watch the game and keep a running commentary about the game while on the phone with Jennifer on lots of gamedays. He loved the outdoors, his garden and lawn and most of all his therapy dog, Michael Patrick, who, we are sure, is waiting across the rainbow bridge to walk with his man in the woods once again.
There will be no service at this time. His family and friends will be welcomed at a later date for a memorial gathering in his honor.
