Karl Anthony Gottleber

It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Karl Gottleber, who left us peacefully on April 23, 2026, in Port Charlotte, Florida. Born on March 1, 1939, in Flint, Michigan, born to Harry and Natalie (Vasold) Gottleber.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, with whom he shared 59 wonderful years of marriage, having wed in August 1966. Their enduring partnership was a testament to their unwavering commitment and love for one another. Together, they raised their son, Eric, who carries forward his father's values and spirit. Karl was a devoted brother to Karan Pinkston and a supportive brother-in-law to Richard (Carolyn) Chambers. Karl’s furry friend, Amber, brought joy and peace to his life. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He was also blessed with the company of special friends, Gary and Carol Shafer, Roger Manfrom, TK and Barbara Johnson, and Dan and Vicky Imlach, JoAnn Gall whose friendships enriched his life immeasurably. Karl was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Dennis Pinkston.

After high school graduation, Karl joined the United States Air Force. Upon returning, Karl went to college. An alumnus of Western Michigan University, Karl graduated with a bachelor’s degree in electrical and mechanical engineering, paving the way for a distinguished career. He dedicated 30 years of service to Dow Chemical Company, his first 2 years in Midland then spent 14 years at the Dow Riverside Plant in Missouri and returned to Dow Midland where he worked as the MSMS Project Consultant, before retiring in 1995. His expertise and commitment to excellence left an indelible mark on his colleagues and the industry.

Karl's life was filled with passion and purpose beyond his professional endeavors. He was a proud member of the, the Elks Club of Houghton Lake, and the Harbor Cove Boat Club. His interests were as diverse as they were vibrant; he had a particular fondness for Corvettes, boating, fishing, and golf. Karl and Mary spent many cherished winters in Florida, where they found warmth and joy in both the climate and community.

A man of simple pleasures, Karl found beauty in roses and the peace of the open water. His love for life and his gentle nature was reflected in his everyday actions and interactions, leaving a legacy of love and compassion.
