Julianne Atwood Whitaker

Julianne Atwood Whitaker, 86, of Midland died Monday, July 06, 2009 at Bickford Cottage.


The daughter of the late Charles Reno and Helen Pauline (Skeel) Atwood was born June 9, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio where she was raised and educated. She graduated from Cleveland Heights High School and Mather/Case Western Reserve. On February 9, 1945 she married Robert K. Whitaker in Cleveland and they went on to celebrate 61 wonderful years of marriage. Robert passed away April 15, 2006. Prior to retiring to Midland in 2000 the Whitaker's sailed the Chesapeake Bay for many years. Julie was a gifted artist in many mediums including jewelry making, pottery and stained glass. She was a member of Chapel Lane Presbyterian Church.


Julie is survived by her sons, Gregory (Sally) Whitaker of AuGres, Douglas (Cynthia) Whitaker of Midland, Jeffrey (Linda) Whitaker of Kalamazoo; daughter, Gail (Nick) Kepler of Saratoga, California; grandchildren, Kristen (Andrew) Kozelouzek, Melissa (Jason) Auvil, Matthew (Megan) Whitaker, Ryan Whitaker, Eric Whitaker, Britney Biggi, Scott Biggi, Jennifer Kepler; and three great grandchildren, David Whitaker, Natalie Whitaker, Addison Kozelouzek. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter Holly and her son Scott.


A memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, July 25, 2009 from Chapel Lane Presbyterian Church with Pastor David Young officiating. Family will meet with friends at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Cleveland, Ohio. Donations in Julianne's memory may be offered to MidMichigan Home Care (Hospice). Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home where there will be no visitation.
