Judy K. Whalen, age 81 of Midland, passed away April 3, 2024 at home with family by her side. She was born in Flint on August 19, 1942 to the late Mark and Eleanor L. (Hendricks) McKinnon. On November 26, 1976, Judy married James D. Whalen and they shared 40 years together before his death in 2016. She worked with Dow Corning for almost 20 years in shipping/receiving and quality control before her retirement in 2000.
Together, Jim and Judy enjoyed gardening and spent lots of time canning the foods they grew. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. Many will remember her passion for her favorite game, BINGO.
Surviving are her daughters, Melody Bunting and Tina Frayer; step son, Jeremy Whalen; grandchildren, Steven, Scott, Joshua, Kay, John, Eli; seven great grandchildren; and sister, Juanita Dickenson. In addition to her husband and parents, Judy was preceded in death by her brother, Sonny McKinnon.
Judy's family would like to thank Scott Ridenour for the love and care he gave Judy over the years. From caring for her needs to cooking her favorite foods (anything with gravy), he filled her final years with joy and love.
Funeral services for Judy will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with burial to follow in Midland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 12 pm until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be offered to Residential Hospice or the Toni and Trish House.
