Joyce J. (Smith) Sasse

Joyce J. (Smith) Sasse, age 92 of Mills, passed away Saturday morning March 27, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. Joyce "Jackie" daughter of the late Alexander F. and Mabel D. (Nelson) Smith was born in Redford, Michigan on October 8, 1928. Joyce was employed for many years as a Food Service Manager for Northwood University. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Rhodes, Michigan. Joyce prided herself on her honesty and integrity and the love of her family, friends, a beer and having a goodtime. &On June 11, 1949 Joyce married Donald George Sasse, Sr. and after 43 of marriage he went to his heavenly home on November 28, 1992.

Surviving are her children, Donald Sasse, Jr., James (Carla) Sasse, Marilyn Sasse, Glenn (Julie Schneider) Sasse, Mary (Juan) Garcia, Kelly (Keith) Burlingame, Ruth Keyser; 21 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; sister, Lynn Cummings; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce was preceded in death by brothers, Carroll and Francis Smith and her sister, Dolores Abeldt.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 31, 2021 at Hope Lutheran Church 4758 Church Rd Rhodes, Michigan with Rev. Roger Bauer officiating. Interment will be in Larkin Township Cemetery. Family will receive guests at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 12 noon until the time of service. Please be aware that per state mandate, face covering, social distancing and a limit of 25 people in the funeral home is required.
