Joseph S. Ostrofsky

Joseph S. Ostrofsky, age 88 of Midland, passed away Thursday April 14, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. The son of the late Nathan and Helen (Schwartz) Ostrofsky was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on November 1, 1933. Joe graduated from Midland High School and attended Michigan State University. He worked with his parents at Nathan's Market for many years. Joe coached basketball and baseball, worked in the press box at Midland High School Football games, was a loyal Chemic and Spartan fan, a recipient of the Lloyd Osborne Award, a volunteer with Cancer Services of Midland, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.


Surviving is his wife of 54 years, the former Pauline Orwig, of whom he married on July 9, 1967; children, Jill Milby of Zionsville, Indiana, Jeffrey (Karen) Ostrofsky of Frankenmuth, Jason (Stacie) Ostrofsky of Farmington, Hills; grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler, Kylie, Joby, Sydney, Lizzy, Jaxon & Emery; sister-in-law, Janet Valentine; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by brother, Samuel; sister, Thelma Nathanson; sister-in-law, Velma Holguin.


Private services have taken place with interment in Midland City Cemetery. Memorial contribution in Joe's name may be directed to Cancer Services of Midland or charity of choice. Arrangements are under the care of Wilson Miller Funeral Home.
