Joseph Y. Medina, age 91 of Midland died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Colonial Villa.
The son of the late Eugenio and Matiana (Olivo) Medina was born September 27, 1920 in San Antonio , Texas .
Joseph served with the U.S. Army during WWII as a machine gunner. He spent 4 years fighting in the European Theater .
On January 25, 1947 he married the former Maria Villa in Detroit . After 57 years of marriage Maria died September 11, 2004.
Joseph had worked for Ford Motor Company for 36 years, retiring in 1982. He moved to Midland in 1998 and attended the Christian Celebration Center.
Joseph proved himself to be a brave soldier, great father, wonderful grandfather & great-grandfather. He leaves his family with many precious memories. He was the best of the best!
Mr. Medina is survived by his son, Alfred J. (Delynn) Medina of Alpena; daughter, Gloria (Ralph) Cooper of Sanford; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Hope Martinez of Allen Park and Margaret Eads of Midland.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by sisters, Anastacia Ramirez and Georgia Lewis.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider donations to: The Disabled American Veterans, or The American Cancer Society.
Mr. Medina will be buried with military honors at the Great Lakes National Cemetery .
