Joseph H, Jones

Joseph H. Jones, age 84 of Lake, Michigan, passed away on Thursday February 14, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family. The son of the late Gilbert and Floy (White) Grieble was born in Midland on June 6, 1934. Joe served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He had been employed with The Dow Chemical Co. until retiring in 1988 after 35 years of service. Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering in the woods, playing his keyboard, watching sports and being with his grandchildren. He was an Amateur Ham Radio Operator handle A8ATM, a member of the Sanford American Legion Post 443, and Evart Moose Lodge 2452.

Surviving is his wife of 61 years the former Cora L. Knapp of whom he married on June 7, 1957 in Floyd Church of God; sons, Joseph (Christiane) Jones of Schlitz, Germany, Gilbert L. Jones of Lake; daughter, Laura (Russ) Blowers of Lake Isabella, Karen (Dan) Youmans of Sanford, Kelly (Ray) Varner, Kimberly (Wally) Sleeper all of Midland; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by 2nd dad Calvin R. Jones, who raised him shortly after his birth do to the death of his father; brother, Russ Jones; sisters, Harriett Brainerd, Lucille Adkins and Caroline Sopcak.

Funeral services for Joe will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday February 19, 2019 from Floyd Church of God with his grandson Pastor Dan Youmans officiating. Interment will follow in Lee Township Cemetery. Family will receive guests at the CHURCH only on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be offered to the Alzheimer's Association, Dementia Society of America, or MidMichigan Home Health Care (Hospice).
