A loving husband, father and grandfather, John K. Jones, age 73 of Midland, peacefully passed away at his home on Tuesday morning May 20, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. He will be missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
John was born on June 23, 1951 to the late John E. and Ruth I. (Dodd) Jones in Midland where he remained a lifelong resident. A graduate of Midland High School, John went on to earn his Associates in Degree in Criminal Justice and worked as a security guard after college. John went on to serve as a police officer with the City of Midland for 26 years until his retirement. John's "retirement" only lasted a week before he went to work for Davenport University as a Career Coach for 22 years. John enjoyed supporting young people as they launched their careers and helped connect them with local businesses.
On November 9, 1996, John married the former Stacy M. Frazier in Bancroft, MI and they shared 28 years together. John was a lifelong member of the Church of God community and was a member of Mt. Haley Church of God for many years. John, known as "Papa John" to many of his grandchildren, enjoyed camping, woodworking, tinkering and fixing just about anything, watching Tigers games, gardening, working in his yard and spending time with his family. Family was truly the center of John's life and most of all, John will be remembered for the love, encouragement and guidance he gave his family.
John will be missed by his wife and his children, Julie (Mark) Fisk, Timothy (Allison) Jones, Kasey (Joel) Olivares; his grandchildren, Gabriel Jones, Lauren Fisk, Harrison Fisk, Silas Jones, Angeline Jones, Beatrix Jones; and his siblings, Barb (Jack) Weber, Randy (Pat) Jones, Susan (Richard) Tobey.
