John A. "Jack" Schacher, age 88 of Auburn, passed away on Wednesday January 12, 2022 at his residence. The son of the late John A. and Selma (Swenning) Schacher was born in Sisseton, South Dakota on September 4, 1933. He was a 1952 graduate of Bay City Central. Jack served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was the former owner of Schacher Chrysler in Pinconning and then went on to work for The Dow Chemical Company until retiring in 1991. Jack was a member of St. Gabriel Parish, enjoyed hunting, watching football and was a NASCAR fan. He was loved by all who knew him. On April 19, 1958 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Jack married the former Geraldine "Gerry" Gwisdala and after 62 years of marriage, she passed away on October 17, 2020. Together Jack and Gerry were members of the Allegro Club and Valley Views and enjoyed camping and traveling to many locations throughout the United States.
Surviving are his children, Lori (Randy) Lemuel, Terry Schacher; daughter in law, Jackie Schacher; 10 grandchildren; Chad (Kate) Lemuel, Mike (Heather) Schacher, Nick (Lindsey) Schacher, Brent Lemuel, Amy (Chad) Wegener, Shane (Cassie) Schacher; Stephanie Schacher; Emilee Schacher, Brittney Schacher, Brandi Schacher; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Arneson; sisters in law, Evelyn Pickelman; Germaine Gwisdala; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his son, Michael; brothers in law, Bruce Arneson, William Gwisdala, Jr., Leonard Cieslinksi, Carl Pickelman; sister-in-law, Henrietta Cieslinski.
Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday January 17, 2022 at St. Gabriel Parish (St. Joseph) Church in Auburn with Fr. Thomas Sutton officiating. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors being provided by the United States Army. Family will receive guests at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The family will be reciting the rosary 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the wishes of the family.
