John T. "Jack" Hunter

John T. "Jack" Hunter, age 85 of Midland, passed away Saturday June 5, 2021 at Stratford Pines Nursing Home. The son of the late Robert and Muriel (Lincoln) Hunter was born in Bay City on December 22, 1936. After graduating from High School, Jack enlisted in the United States Navy. He served in the Vietnam War and after 22 years in the Navy retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 1970. Jack then worked for the former Michigan Bell and then went on to work for Sherman-Williams Paint for many years. He was very active with the Boy Scouts of America and local Veterans Groups, was an avid NASCAR Fan, coin and stamp collector and enjoyed watching The Tigers and The Lions. Jack was a member of the American Legion Berryhill Post in Midland.

Surviving is his wife of 60 years the former Jean Wittig of whom he married in St. Mary's Church in Merrill on January 30, 1961; son, Thomas (Michelle) Hunter of Traverse City; daughter, Tina (Dean) Bolton of Midland; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Beverly Dvorak of Saginaw.

Funeral services for Jack will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday June 10, 2021 at Messiah Lutheran Church with Military Funeral Honors being provide by the United States Navy and the Midland Area Veterans. Family will receive guests at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
