JoAnn C. Janson

JoAnn Coty Janson of Midland, Michigan, passed away on October 30, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on May 30, 1938, she lived a life marked by devotion to her family and community.

On October 10, 1959, JoAnn married Matthew George Janson, beginning their life together, raising five daughters: Cynthia Janson (deceased), Cheryl (Kevin) Collins, Cathy (Tim) Wishowski, Christin (Jay Arons) O'Callaghan, and Carrie (Dave) Berney.

JoAnn was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She took great pride in her family and found joy in watching it grow. She was the cherished grandmother of eight: Madelynne (Patrick Conlin) O'Callaghan, Justin Wishowski, Brendan (Bailey) O'Callaghan, Brooke Berney, Luke Berney, Alex Wishowski, Becca Berney, and Drew Berney; and one great-grandchild, Jack Wishowski.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Cindy; her parents, Vincent and Ruth Coty; and her sisters, Pat Fothergill and Jan Hale.

JoAnn dedicated countless hours to serving others through volunteer work in the Midland community, as well as Hamilton, Montana where she lived with her family during the 1970s. Her commitment spanned decades and included more than 10 years as the funeral luncheon coordinator for St. Brigid Catholic Church, a role she fulfilled with compassion and grace.

The memory of her kindness, compassion, warm smile, and witty humor will be treasured by all who knew her.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 8, 2025, at St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church with Fr. Stephen Blaxton officiating. The Rite of Committal will be held at 2:00 p.m. at New Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Friday from 2 until 6:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Family will recite the rosary on Friday at 6:00 p.m. Memorial contribution may be directed to Children’s Grief Center or the organization of ones choosing.
