Jess Richard Norling

Jess R. Norling, age 73 of Tawas City, formerly of Midland, died at Saginaw St. Mary's Hospital on Tuesday March 3, 2015. The son of the late Karl and Grace (Meyers) Norling was born on March 1, 1942 in Bay City. Jess was raised and educated in Midland, graduating from Midland High School in 1957. He had worked for the Dow Chemical Co as a pipe fitter/welder, retiring in 1989. Jess was a proud member of Local 12075 where he served as a Union Steward. After his retirement he owned and operated Yesteryear Antiques then moved to Tawas City where he remained active with his son on E-bay with antiques. He was an avid sportsman and raised prize winning Coonhound hunting dogs.

Jess is survived by his son Eric Norling of Oscoda; daughter Gretchen (Ronald) Holmes of Hazard, KY; grandchild Branwyn Holmes; brother Lee (Michelle) Norling of Elk Rapids; sister Carol Lopez of Shields; and former wife, Roberta "Bobbie" Norling. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his son Christopher Norling.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 7, 2015 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with the Reverend Roger Saltee officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm and on Saturday from 10:00 am until time of service. Memorials may be offered to Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund of Midland.
