Jerry Lee Allswede, age 95 of Grand Blanc, formerly of Sanford, passed away February 28, 2026 at Genesis Henry Ford Hospital. For the last few years, he had resided at Abbey Park Independent Living where he enjoyed making new friends and appreciated the wonderful staff.

He was born in Saginaw on August 12, 1930 to the late Gerald and Pauline (Dahl) Allswede and graduated from Midland High School in 1948. After high school, Jerry served his country honorably with the United States Navy during the Korean War. Upon his discharge from the Navy, Jerry went on to establish a career as an engineer with Dow Chemical Company. His time with Dow Chemical spanned 32 years along with many accomplishments.

For 73 years, Jerry was married to the former Jewell Hipke, they wed on February 23, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Midland. They established themselves in Midland and started their family with the addition of their daughter, Lynn Kimmel. The family was further blessed with his grandchildren, Mark (Jackie) and Phil (Jessica) Kimmel, and 5 great grandchildren. Jerry is also survived by his siblings, Wayne Allswede and Ralph (Judy) Allswede. In addition to his wife and parents, Jerry was predeceased by his sister, Shirley Allswede; son in-law, Martin Kimmel; and sister in-law, Joyce Allswede.

Jerry was a longtime member of the Midland Centre Lodge #273 Free and Accepted Masons and attended regular dinners at the Scottish Rite Consistory. He enjoyed traveling the country with his wife, woodworking, antique cars, and in his younger days, competing in motorcycle enduro races. Being outdoors brought Jerry peace with his favorite activities being hunting and fishing. Most of all, Jerry will be remembered for his strength, sense of humor, and love for his family.

Jerry’s funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Pastor Michael T. Sawicki will officiate with private burial to be in Jerome Twp Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 11:30 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to the Sanford Historical Society at P.O Box 243, Sanford, MI 48657 or online at www.sanfordhist.org.
