Jerome (Jerry) C. Kole, age 86, formerly of Midland and of Cape Coral, Florida died Friday, February 24, 2012 at his home. The son of the late Alexander and Myrtle (Myers) Kole was born April 5, 1925 in Bay City where he was raised and educated. Jerry graduated in 1943 from St. Joseph High School in Bay City. He then served with the U.S. Navy Air Corps during WWII. He attended Central Michigan University and graduated in 1950 from the University of Detroit Law School. Jerry married the former Mary Walsh in Detroit on October 14, 1950 who predeceased him on January 18, 1992.

The Koles came to Midland in 1951 where Jerry established the Kole-Kenney-Kole Law Firm and later Kole and Kole. From 1963 through 2000, he developed and operated the former Town and Country Nursing Home. Jerry was involved with several Real Estate ventures over the years. He owned Paddy's Pub, Paddy's Pour House, the Crash Landing Lounge, and several other businesses. Mr. Kole served on the Midland City Council from 1962 through 1964. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Sanford, a life member of the American Legion Berryhill Post #165, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Jerry was loved by his children, Patrick (Julia) Kole of Boise, Idaho; the late Michael (Tracey) Kole, Mary Kay (Glen) Kralapp of Cape Coral, Florida; Anna Paxton of Bloomington, Illinois Robert Kole of Midland, Michigan; Jerome M. P. (Mary) Kole of Gaylord; eighteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.


The funeral liturgy will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 3, 2012 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Sanford with the Reverend Father Dan Fox, OFM-Cap. officiating. Interment will be in New Calvary Cemetery. Family will meet with friends at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Friday, March 2, 2012 from 4-8 pm where a Christian Wake service will be held at 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Kole's memory may be offered to the Mary Walsh Kole Scholarship fund in care of Davenport University or a charitable organization of the donor's choice.
