Jean (Scott) Dittenber-Meddaugh

Jean (Scott) Dittenber - Meddaugh passed away peacefully on 3/17/2023 at the Roosevelt House in Hemlock, MI at the age of 97 with family by her side. Jean was born in Freeland on 2/18/1926 to Robert and Elva (Arnold) Scott. She was raised with her siblings, Inez (Lee) Armstrong, Dave (Helen) and Alan (Virgie) Scott each of whom preceded her in death. After graduation from High School, she worked in the payroll department at Dow Chemical Company. She married Bernard J Dittenber in 1952 and became a loving housewife and mother. Bernard preceded her in death, in 1993.& In 2003, she married Floyd Meddaugh, whom preceded her in death in June 2020.

Jean is survived by her children Cheryl (Ken) Herringshaw, Maryann (Clayton) Massey, Joyce Dittenber, Richard (Deb) Dittenber, and David (Ronda) Dittenber. Surviving step children include Diane (Jim) Greer, Dan Meddaugh, Larry (Cindy) Meddaugh, Kevin (Alesha) Meddaugh, Carol (Gary) Bragiel, Janet (Mike) Gajewsky, Bonnie Bergey, Harvey (Mary) Krantz, and Clyde (Susan) Krantz. Her grandchildren include Nichole Kenny, Jillian (Jeff) Blues, Serena Fleming-Dittenber, Corbin Fleming-Dittenber, Rhonda Bernard, Mick Bradley, Marc (Joy) Dise, Scott, Darren, and Andrew Herringshaw, Krista and Kacie Dittenber, and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Lavon (Ginni) Dittenber and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jean will be remembered for her love for dogs, birds, cooking, spending time with family, and her big heart. Jean was also an avid collector of dolls, bears and Beanie Babies.

She was a member the Aldersgate Methodist Church of Midland. The family would like to thank the Roosevelt House Staff and the Hospice Care Team for all the care and support for Jean over the last few years.

Visitation will be held at Aldersgate Church of Midland on Tuesday March 21st, 2023 from 1-2 pm. Funeral following at 2 p.m. Private interment will be in Midland City Cemetery. Personal messages of condolence may be offered to the family at www.wilson-miller.com.
