Janet A. Rahl

June 3, 1948 — May 1, 2020

Janet A. Rahl, age 71 of Auburn, passed away Friday evening May 1, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her family. The daughter of the late Clifford S. and Florence A. (Scruggs) Hargett was born in Little Rock Arkansas on June 3, 1948. She was a 1966 graduate of Central High School and then went on to get her teaching degree from Central Michigan University and her Master's from SVSU. Janet taught for many years in the Saginaw, Merrill, and Freeland School Districts, until retiring as the Principal from Freeland Elementary School in 2005. She was a member of Auburn United Methodist Church where she was very active in many church functions. Janet enjoyed playing golf, tennis, pickleball, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.


Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Larry D. Rahl of whom she married on May 2, 1969 in Bay City; children, Laura Rahl, Jeff Rahl, Lindsey (Shane) Naughton; grandchildren, Brianna, Cameron, and Dakota Pine, Sofia and Vivian Rahl, and Avery Naughton; great grandchild, Aaron; brothers, Jim (Linda) Hargett, Clifford Hargett; sister, Nancy Langley; many nieces, nephews and cousins.


Celebration of Janet's Life will take place 1:00 p.m. Wednesday June 3, 2020 at Williams Township Park in Auburn. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the donor's charity of choice, in Janet's memory.
