Jane A. Bates

Jane Ann (Engwis) Bates, age 86 of Midland died Friday January 15, 2016 at the Mid-Michigan Medical Center. She was born on May 22, 1929 in Midland to the late Earl and Audrey (Mater) Engwis. She attended Midland Schools. Jane was a girl scout, and a sea scout; also a member of Tops Club and the First United Methodist Church. She married Charles Bates on June 4th, 1948.
Jane is survived by her daughter Denise Briscoe of Galena, Missouri and two grandsons, James and Jeremy Graf of Missouri, great granddaughter Kaitlyn Ann Graff and many nieces and nephews and a longtime friend Donna Goodwin. Jane was predeceased by her husband Charles in April 1985, her Father Earl in July 1977, her Mother Audrey in May 1996 and three brothers Paul in November of 1977, Jerry in March of 1977 and Mark in July 1997.
In accordance to Jane's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be conducted at a later date. Memorials may be offered to the First United Methodist Church or to Washington Woods.
