James C. Winchell, age 75 of Midland died Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at his home.
The son of the late Jack and Mildred (Bedain) Winchell was born August 14, 1935 in Potterville, MI and graduated from High School in Marion, MI.
James served in the U.S. Army. On April 1, 1961 he married the former Barbara Stokes in Charlevoix. He worked in construction for the Dow Chemical Company, retiring in 1989.
James was a life member of the NRA, an avid deer hunter and fisherman, and he enjoyed golfing and bowling.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Barbara; son, James Winchell of Kannapolis, NC; daughter, Stephanie (Ricky) Alvarez of Riverdale, GA; daughter in law, Mary Ann Winchell of Midland; grandchildren, Jennifer (Shane) Talbot, David (Leah) Winchell, William, Andrew and Sara Winchell, Xavier Alvarez; three great grandchildren; mother in law, Florence Hohman of Midland; sister in law, Margaret Besey of Frankenmuth; niece, Deana (Jeff) Chamberlain of Marion; and man's best friend, Charlie, the Pomeranian.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Bradley V. Winchell.
A Memorial service for Mr. Winchell will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 14, 2010 from Eagle Ridge Church of God with Reverend James Shanks officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of service.
