James A. Struthers

James A. Struthers, age 82 of Midland, died Tuesday March 8, 2011 at Bickford Cottage. The son of the late James A. and Marjorie (Elliott) Struthers was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 28, 1928. He served in the United States Army Chemical Corps during the Korean Conflict. Jim graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelors of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He was employed with The Dow Chemical Co. until retiring in 1985 after 32 years of service. Jim was a member of Kiwassee Kiwanis, Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity, Midland Chambers of Commerce and supported the West Midland Family Center. He enjoyed sailing, skiing and traveling.

Surviving is his wife of 60 years the former Carol Schart whom he married on February 10, 1951 in Berkeley CA; sons, Clinton (Jodie) Struthers of Midland, Richard (Rosemary) Struthers of Putney, Vermont, Leslie (Lin Hartman) Struthers of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Courtney (Rob) Morgenstern, Bridget Struthers, Reilly Struthers and Rory Struthers.

Per Jim's wishes cremation has taken place. Family will receive friends at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 5:00 p.m. Memorials maybe offered to West Midland Family Center. Messages of condolence may be offered to the family at www.wilson-miller.com
