James H. Secor, Jr.

June 3, 1920 — February 23, 2011

On February 23, Jim Secor left this life to go where he has long wanted to be: back with his beloved Donabelle, who preceded him in January, 2008. Though he had tried to remain cheerful and courteous as ever without her, by last week he was glad to go.

The two of them had been together since high school, sharing long, often wintry walks in Edenville and Hope, and splashy summer swim parties at Wixom Lake. Then after their February, 1941 marriage at the newly-built St. Brigid's ---where wartime coal rationing left the church "pretty chilly", they remembered--- Jim left for the War, and was soon sending back a steady stream of adoring V-Mails home to his bride and their new baby boy, whom they'd named James III.

When the Victors came home, Jim and Donabelle began their married life in earnest, his life-long career at Dow taking the three of them, and their new daughter Binet, farther and farther from the familiar, even to Hong Kong, where they had some of the zaniest, highest adventures of their lives. Then, after the long ---shared--- corporate experience which had taken them all over the world, it came time for Jim and Donabelle to begin a new twenty-year honeymoon, now even more free to golf, to entertain, to make new friends and savor their retirement years to the fullest.

When at last all that fun came to its inevitable end, Jim carried on alone as best he could, but with his best friend gone, he was always lonesome. Now at last, his wish has been granted, and he's back with his "Honey"... this time forever.
