James J. Roberson, 82, of Beaverton died Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at MidMichigan Medical Center Midland.
Jim was born on November 11, 1928 to the late James and Sylvia (Cassiday) Roberson.
Jim was a down-to-earth, straight talker who loved the out doors. He was an avid hunter. One of the highlights of his life was a hunting trip out West. Jim worked as a truck driver for the Dow Chemical Company for 33 years, retiring in 1980. He farmed his land as a past time. Jim treasured time spent with his family, often sharing stories that will be passed on for generations.
Jim is survived by the love of his life and wife of 58 years, JoAnn (Cronkright) whom he married on June 9, 1952 in Gladwin. He leaves behind 10 children, Gloria (James) Lafever of Marion, Deb (Elton) Fisch, Linda (Chris) Muma, Becky (Bill) Mathews all of Gladwin, Michael (Dawn) Roberson of Midland, Matt (Terri) Roberson of St. Johns, Jim Roberson of Bay City, Jeff (Susan) Roberson and Mark Roberson of Texas, and Sylvia (Greg) Canterbury of Florida as well as many beloved grandchildren.
He is also survived by brothers, Wilbur (Gerry) Roberson, Ronald Roberson, and Howard (Evelyn) Roberson all of Beaverton, Duane (Beverly) Roberson, Frank (Maxine) Roberson all of Gladwin, Niel Roberson of Florida; and ½ brother, Joe Nunn of Sugar Springs.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his son, Gilbert "Gib" Roberson; brothers, Stan and Jerry; and sister, Sally.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, November 22, 2010 from the Wilson Miller Funeral Home with Pastor David G. Mulder of Homer United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Midland Memorial Gardens.
Jim's family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
Memorials may be offered to the donor's choice.
